Terrence Jones Visits KU
Written by Brubaker
Terrence_Jones5-star recruit Terrence Jones, by far the best player left unsigned, has spent his final official visit on Kansas and is in Lawrence today, 4/26.  Hailing from Portland, Oregon and rated the 13th best recruit in the 2010 class, Jones is a projected as a PF/SF and is listed at 6'8" 220 lbs.  Jones is a left-handed shot, and is noted as being a superior inside-out player, great defender, and very adept ball-handler.

The Oregonian
has a wealth of information and video on Terrence hereHe plans to announce his decision Friday, April 30th.

Jones has also made official visits to Kentucky, Oklahoma, UCLA and Washington.  Arizona and Oregon are also reported to be in the mix, however as he has remained unsigned up until this point I have to believe that none of the aforementioned schools made a big enough impression on Terrence, or else he would have committed already.  In the past, we have seen Bill Self land big time recruits late, notably Darrell Arthur.  Also working in KU's favor is that fellow 5-star recruit and future Jayhawk stud, Josh Selby, has also been applying the full-court press to bring Jones to Lawrence.  It would appear that all the pieces are in place for Bill Self to land yet another stellar recruiting class, with Selby and Royce Woolridge already committed.

The addition of Terrence Jones to an already incredibly athletic group of players is a scary prospect for not only the Big XII, but the rest of the nation.  Unlike last year's somewhat soft, jump-shooting collection of players, these Jayhawks would be reminiscent of the "freak squad" that was the 2007 and 2008 teams.  The alley-oop would most certainly be back in vogue, as would the ability for almost every player in our starting five to take it to the rack strong and finish - two aspects that were noticeably absent from last year's team.  Already a very good team on paper, if Jones lands in Lawrence I believe Kansas will go into the 2010 season as the most versatile, athletic team in all the land.

Patrick Patterson kept making public statements about how he was strongly considering returning. Us UK Fans assumed he was going Pro, but a recruit can't be sure until its a done deal. It was officially a done deal Friday, when Patrick held his press conference. That same day T.Jones announced April 30th as his decision date,FWIW.

T.Jones waited until now to decide so that he could see for himself exactly who was going to the NBA and who was staying. Its a pretty smart move really.

Again, i would not be surprised if Cal got TJ at all, but, there is not really a logjam at the 3 for KU - they have two redshirts coming back who are penciled in for the 3 - Mario Little and Travis Relaford. And yes, all that has come out of his camp is that KU is not a serious contender..but that was a few weeks ago, a lot can change. Going into the final recruiting period Self said it was of utmost priority to land two of the remaining 4-5 bigtime players left..it might be a longshot, but if UK is such a lock how come he has not already signed after visiting months ago?

Kansas has a log-jam of 3&4's. T.Jones knows this. His mother doesn't even list Kansas as a serious contender for him. There is no one in front of him at UK. Patrick Patterson officially declared for the NBA on Friday. Same day that T.Jones announced when he would make a public decision(April 30th). Cal has put alot of time in this recruitment. I'll take Cal is this situation everytime while he is at UK. T.Jones was born in Nike Country and will go to a Nike school. Not Addidas. Everyone(Beside s Kansas Fans)know the situation and know he will be a Husky or a Cat. I'll put my money on Cal and UK.

Well that is what it seemed like about 2 weeks ago, but Bill Self has a proven track record of signing these types of guys late in the game. It might come down to how much he cares about joining a team ready to win now, or how much he just wants to showcase himself and bounce to the NBA...should be interesting either way.

Terrence Jones has been putting his decision off to see who goes to the NBA on the teams on his list. Respectfully, he will end up at UK IF he decides to leave the West Coast. If he stays out West, he will be a Washington Husky. His Kansas visit was nothing more than an attempt to appease Josh Selby.
